Registered Teachers
So, you've arrived in Melbourne and are ready to teach! Now what?Once you have arrived and registered in Melbourne, you need to get yourself ready for the first day of Casual Relief Teaching. Some items to keep close by or in a daily teaching bag include the following.
- Box of Tricks: A few activities, games, worksheets appropriate to the year level you are assigned.
- Water bottle: If you are doing yard duty in the summer, this is crucial. (Included in the Teacher Start Package).
- Hat: A wide-brimmed hat is necessary for all students and staff to wear at our sun smart schools. (Included in the Teacher Start Package)
- Pens, Notebook, etc: Keep them handy!
- Melways: A map book for Melbourne. This is an absolute must! (Included in the Teacher Start Package).
The metropolitan area of Melbourne is close to 4 million people. Although the transit system is quite good, don't underestimate the time it will take when you are new to the city and unfamiliar with the transfers. Once you know your school, make sure you first check out Metlink Melbourne's Website, then verify the route on Google Maps, and always keep your Melways close by!
