How did you ensure success as a teacher in ANZUK’s schools?
ANZUK communicates with the schools via phone and e-mail about the teacher’s performance within the schools. They passed this feedback along to me, as well as spoke to me about my own school preferences in order to find a good match. ANZUK also worked with my strengths as a teacher, and gave me work within those areas to ensure my success.
How would you rate the quality of ANZUK’s schools and the quantity of work you have received?
I received 4-5 days of work every week that I was in Melbourne. After four months of CRT, I gained a placement at a school covering a long service leave. This turned into a six month stint at the same school which was a very rewarding experience, as I became a part of the school community. If I had chosen to stay in Australia, I had the opportunity to be sponsored. I would not hesitate to continue to use the services provided by ANZUK if I were to stay in Australia, or recommend this agency to any of my friends considering teaching in Melbourne or London.
What advice do you have for future Canadians coming to teach in Melbourne?
Australia is amazing, and having the opportunity to travel and teach here is too good to pass up! Go for it! Be open-minded, work hard, learn and have fun. The experience is what you make it.
